By hosting Karsyn’s Karnival each year, KS2 4DS, Inc. raises the community’s awareness about the unlimited potential that individuals with Down syndrome possess. Through the use of multiple media outlets, KS2 4DS, Inc. also provides information about developmental topics, educational strategies, and opportunities for community/vocational independence that are specific to individuals with Down syndrome.

KS2 4DS, Inc. is now a 501(c)(3) organization. All donations are tax deductible!

When Karsyn was born with Down syndrome in 2009, my husband and I were anxious to meet some of the other families in the area who had a child with Down syndrome. We thought it would be fun to organize a small carnival-themed party for Karsyn’s first birthday. However, that 1st birthday party gradually evolved into an event that was much bigger and better than we ever imagined. The entire Southern Maryland community embraced our idea and together we have created an event known as Karsyn’s Karnival.

Karsyn’s Karnival is a family-oriented event for the entire community. All of the games at the carnival are unique and special because they are all hand-crafted. My husband Justin and our good friend Allen Price have spent countless hours in the driveway building the games for the carnival. These men have constructed the entire carnival from scratch. In addition to the games, there is face painting, pony rides, a K9 demonstration, dancing with Solomons Daycare Center, and tasty treats. There is plenty to eat, see, and do at Karsyn’s Karnival.

While this is a fun event, the true goal of the carnival is to raise the community’s awareness about the talents and abilities of individuals with Down syndrome. We want people to come to the carnival to see that individuals with Down syndrome are exactly like everyone else. They enjoy playing mini golf, they enjoy jumping in the moon bounce, and eating Rita’s Italian Ice. We want the community to spend some time with individuals with Down syndrome. Talk to them and take advantage of the opportunity to get to know an individual with Down syndrome. We are confident that these individuals will amaze you with their talents and abilities!
